Out of Egypt

I've been working a lot over the last year on things that aren't scrolls, for the sole purpose of bettering my skills.  The exercise as resulted in a few things that will never see the light of day, but that's ok too.

I've always loved Ancient Egypt, and while I'm not likely to ever make garb from that era, I do love painting from that era.

This is a 4x6 sheet of papyrus that I've had for about 20 years (hence the rather beat up condition).  I really do love the way the paint works on the papyrus, it's unlike anything I've painted on before and I'm excited to do it again.  Many, many thanks to Mistress Eva for the kind gift of a sheet of papyrus!

Painting more

Completing scrolls feels so good, and knowing that they're on their way to the recipient is even better.

New Projects

To be fair, it has been a long time since I updated this blog.

To also be fair, life exploded and left little room for painting.  This wasn't the best thing ever but these things happen.

I've started and finished a few things since I last posted, and I'm excited to say that there are more things on the horizon.  I have a few more scrolls to finish, and I'll post those as soon as I'm able.  It's always tricky with scrolls, because I don't know when they'll get signed and presented.

Thanks for visiting!
